David's Bio
David first appeared on the KED stage as
Col. Gilweather in the 1993 season-opening production of
Something's Afoot. In the 11 seasons since, he has
appeared in over 30 shows portraying such memorable characters
as Pap Finn in Big River, The Major General in
Pirates of Penzance, Neville Craven in The Secret
Garden, Charley the Mailman in On Golden Pond, and
many, many more. In addition to performing on the stage,
David has served on the Board of Directors and on the
Executive Board for KED, has built sets, designed lighting,
ran the light board, supervised the kitchen staff, been a
cocktail waiter, and many other things. For his stage
work, David has been awarded Best Actor for his portrayal of
Queen Aggravain in Once Upon a Mattress in 2005, Best Supporting Actor award for
his portrayal of Lazar Wolf in the 1995 production of
Fiddler on the Roof and twice Best Cameo Performance in
1998 as Pap Finn in Big River, and in 2000 for the Old
Man in The Good Doctor, as well as two "egg" awards for
some less than desired performances. In addition to
performing with Knock 'em Dead, David has worked with Boise
Little Theatre, portraying Sir Arthur Sullivan in their
production of stage musical Sullivan and Gilbert.
In August of 2002, The Boise Weekly named David Best Local
Actor stating: ".....a character actor and singer who
virtually disappears into the many varied parts he's played
over the years, David possesses the admirable skill of not
drawing too much attention to himself while on stage, yet
still manages to create a lasting impression. The talent
lands him notice here........". David is extremely proud
to be part of the KED Rep Company. He has thoroughly
enjoyed these past 11 years and barring that one magic call
from Cameron MacIntosh to fill a role, he plans to stick
around for many years to come....."or at least for as long as
they want me around."
